Hermanus Experiences and Excursions

Journey Through  The Winelands

Approaching Hermanus from Bot River, the adventure begins at Benguela Cove, a family-friendly estate where wine meets art, food, and leisure on the lagoon. From there, the Hemel-en-Aarde Road unfolds as a journey through renowned vineyards like Hamilton Russell, Bouchard Finlayson, La Vierge, and Newton Johnson — each offering its own blend of wine, gastronomy, art, and breathtaking views. Along the way you’ll discover chocolate pairings, fine dining, fynbos gardens, and sparkling wine, all set against dramatic mountain backdrops. With every stop, the valley reveals new tastes, experiences, and reasons to return.

Spot Whales on Our Rugged coastline

Each year from June to November, Southern Right Whales gather in the sheltered waters of Walker Bay to mate and calve, joined by passing Humpbacks and year-round resident Bryde’s whales. With its dramatic cliff paths and ocean-front vantage points, Hermanus has earned its title as the world’s best land-based whale watching destination. From strolling the coastal paths to spotting whales from your breakfast table- or even joining a licensed boat tour from the harbour-  the Cape Whale Coast offers unforgettable encounters with these gentle giants.
